I actually know no one who is a trader. What I do know is that there is an overwhelming amount of info doing a search on the internet. All with supposed results. I am a 30ish married mom who is tired of compounding debt. I am intelligent and know I could learn if I knew where and how to start. (so I am starting here…) I am looking for web sites, books, ideas, also looking for contacts who have knowledge and success with the stock market who are also beginners, and would like to learn together. Thanks.

Wow, you are taking on a massive task!
Let me say upfront that unless you are a gifted individual be prepared to spent/lose a lot of discretionary money.
Experience is the best teacher in the markets.
There are many, many web sites and companies ready, willing and able to take your money for live classes, books, DVDs, webinars, and whatever else contains the word of these gurus.
I've been investing and trading for over 20 years and just this past year have spent in the neighborhood of $$20,000 for refresher courses, training in alternate methods and a variety of DVDs and books.
Some of the sites I am familiar with are: bettertrades.com (lots of free tutorials on line), investedcentral.com (a great bunch of guys, also on the radio everyday), and (a new site starting in October hosted by a guy named Jack Stieman (a gifted person!), www.jacksteiman.com.
Depending upon were you live I'm sure there are conferences and classes within an hour or so from you.
Stay away from TV Infomercials or at least don't be awe-struck by the promos you see – it takes hard work, lots of time, lots of paper trading and a bunch of money to be "successful" in trading.
It also depends upon if you want to accumulate wealth or simply trade stock/options/futures.
If you want to discuss this further you may contact me at boobeans@optonline.net and I'll give you the straight upfront skinny.
